Need? No. In my experience though, lighting is the difference between "chilling in the living room" and a party.

Eight wireless uplights (PAR cans) are just RM500. They're placed on the floor to add color and dimming or strobe effects for cheap. I have a total of sixteen (RM1,000), meant for a bigger space.

For dancing, I often use a Gigbar Move ILS with a hazer (RM750, or two for RM1,250). The hazer lets you see moving beams of light and gives you that "clubbing at home" feel.

Haze machines are okay with heat-based smoke detectors (common in most Malaysian buildings). Particle-based detectors will disallow the haze machine, so the PAR cans are better there.

Throwing something bigger, like a stage or a few hundred guests? That's a different scale of lighting, and it goes through Mochi Entertainment.

For most house parties, no. My RCF Evox J8 pair already has punchy bass and covers up to about 100 guests.

A subwoofer earns its place when the night is really about dancing, the space is big or outdoors, or the playlist leans on bass-heavy music (hip hop and EDM don't sound nice without a sub). One subwoofer is RM400; additional transport may apply due to its size and weight.

My DJ setup can fit on a table as small as 2 ft wide by 4 ft long. I can bring my own table for a small add-on of RM50.

The wireless uplights are small and portable. The Gigbar takes up about 3 x 3 ft of space for the tripod. Send me pictures of the space you want the dancing to be in, and I'll recommend the best package for your budget and space.

It depends on the setup. The Bose S1 Pro pair runs on internal batteries for up to 6 hours, with a portable power station for the console, so a garden or a rooftop with no plug nearby still works.

Everything else, including my speakers, Gigbar and DJ console, can run off normal Malaysian 3-pin wall sockets. Sharing sockets with high-power household appliances is highly not recommended.

As a rule of thumb, we have to respect your condo's volume limits (usually turn down by 10:30 pm) and/or your neighborhood environment.

If you live in a terraced or semi-D house, it's probably not the best idea to bang loud music after 11 pm. I do adjust the sound based on your desires, but please understand that getting a police visit will kill the party faster than a quieter sound system.

Yes! I've traveled to places like Johor Bahru, Melaka, Port Dickson, Bukit Tinggi, Janda Baik, and many other areas outside of KL.

Transportation and sometimes accommodation fees apply to anything above 45 minutes of driving.

I've also DJed weddings in Bali, Thailand, and more distant parts of Malaysia (Penang, Sabah). Flight and accommodation fees definitely come into play for these destinations.

All equipment needs to be 100% protected from rain. There are no ifs or buts about this - if it rains, I am obligated to halt my service, tear down the equipment, and wait for the rain to subside if I'm exposed.

We can plan a lovely garden party, but please understand that water and electrical equipment do not mix whatsoever.
